Some products are purchased in dollars and sold in mexican pesos at a daily exchange rate. In OpenERP 7 I was able to use a product category and then multiply the price i.e. 10 usd by exchange rate $20 pesos, so in even though in products the price was 10 with the product category I used a formula and multiplied by 20 (exchange rate) all prices for that product the price in POS was $200 pesos. This was very convenient because we only changed price from 10 to 15 and POS would reflect the correct price as $300 MXN . In Odoo 14 it is no possible to do same thing. I would not like to enter the $200 directly on the product price then change to 300 because this would add manual calculation for all those products. What would be the best way to acomplish the same and get the price times the currency exchange rate for specific product categories?

yes, my case is the other way around than automatic conversion to public price (the main currency). I could use the option to set your own price per product, where the public price which for most products is MXN would be in USD for one product category and that category will have a MXN list with its prices but that would require a custom program to multipy the price in the product per the exchange rate and save it to that special MXN list for that specific category.

Have you seen https://www.odoo.com/documentation/14.0/applications/sales/sales/products_prices/prices/currencies.html ?

Prices are defined per Product with other Currency pricelists linked to the Public Pricelist will change every day when you update foreign exchange rates.
