n odoo having an online store i grant customers portal access so that they can download past invoices etc. but their names appear in my back end settings as well. for example who should handle live chat requests. Seen in the screenshot, Johan Wolmarans is the only user for this company the rest is portal customers. what setting is there to fix this

I would suggest to check and correct user roles and permissions

Audit User Group Memberships

The most likely cause is that portal users have been assigned to internal groups (e.g., "Sales / User") that grant them access to backend features. To fix this,

  • Navigate to User Settings
    • In the Odoo backend, go to Settings > Users & Companies > Users.
  • Identify Portal Users
    • Look through the list for users who are portal customers (e.g., Andy Aphan). These should be individuals tied to customer companies, not internal staff.
  • Check and Adjust Access Rights
    • Select a portal user (e.g., Andy Aphan) and open their profile.
    • Go to the "Access Rights" tab.
    • Verify their group memberships:
      • They should only have the "Portal" group checked, which limits their access to portal features.
      • They should not be in groups like "Sales / User: All Documents," "Sales / Manager," or any other internal groups.
    • If they are in internal groups, uncheck those groups to remove the extra permissions.
    • Save the changes.
  • Repeat for All Portal Users
    • Check and correct the access rights for all portal users to ensure none have internal permissions.
