Hi, 


I use an extra step in tthe e-commerce check out field to let customers pick there pickup date. Now this info is only visible in the order logs, not very handy and quickly overlooked by our staff. 


Can i use Studio to 

  • retrieve this info out of the extra step in the e-commerce check out
  • put in on the sales order
  • send an email reminder when an e-commerce order is placed 

ps: i know this is personalisation, must be possible in studio but i'm new user of studo so could use some help :)

Hi,

You can definitely use Odoo Studio to retrieve the customer's chosen pickup date from your e-commerce checkout, display it on the Sales Order, and send an automated email reminder. First, you'll need to identify the technical name of the custom field where the pickup date is stored in the e-commerce order. Then, in Studio, you can add a new field to the Sales Order form, linking it to the e-commerce order's pickup date field. This will automatically pull the date onto the Sales Order for your staff to see.

To send the email reminder, create an automated action in Studio that triggers when a new Sales Order is created from the e-commerce site. The action should send an email using a template that includes the customer's name and their selected pickup date. Make sure to test the entire process thoroughly by placing a test order to ensure the information is displayed correctly and the email is sent as expected. Remember to enable developer mode to access Studio and find the technical names of the fields, and be aware that complex logic might require custom Python code beyond Studio's capabilities.

You wouldn't need studio. One way is to update the delivery date field on the sale order (Other info tab, Delivery section). This field updated the expected delivery date on a delivery order. Or you could use this field to drive automation (like sending notification etc)

On the extra step page update the date field to "Delivery Date" - Field type > Existing fields > Delivery date

There are multiple way

a. if delivery orders are used for scheduling orders or preparation then you could sort by schedule date field

b. if a email notification is required then an automated action can be set.

Action on Sale Order model triggered when state is set to sale order

Domain - Sales Team = website (or any other field that identifies an website order)

Action to do send email - Create an email template with the notification message and insert a dynamic place holder field 'delivery date' field on that template
