Hi community,

I’m working with the Attendance module in Odoo and I’d like to know if there’s any way (or any app/widget) to have a Check In/Out button on the home screen of iPhone or Android devices, so that when you tap it, the action is executed directly—without having to open the Odoo app and navigate to the button.

The idea would be something like a widget or shortcut that performs the check in/out with a single tap.

Has anyone implemented something similar or knows if there’s a native solution or a custom development approach for this?

Hello 

This can be achieved with a simple Android app or widget using XML/JSON RPC.

Here’s what the workflow would look like:

  1. User Registration Form:

    The app opens a form where the user enters their Odoo URL, username, and password.

  2. Authentication:

    On the backend, the app authenticates with Odoo and stores the session.

  3. Widget Interface:

    Using native Android tools, create a widget that includes two buttons: Check In and Check Out.

  4. XML-RPC Integration:

    When the user taps either button, the app triggers an XML-RPC call to Odoo and updates the corresponding record.
