How to update odoo master version

Question

Hi,
I installed with
su -odoo18
git clone https://www.github.com/odoo/odoo --depth 1 --branch master --single-branch

the latest version, 17.5alpha1.
I would like to check is there a new stabile version and then to install it.
I tried to check the newest version with git log, git show and so on but I always get a git error like /fatal: not a git repository /or /error: unknown option `branch'/ .
Any idea how to check latest stabile version and to install it?

I found the version can be easily checked here:  https://github.com/odoo/odoo/blob/master/odoo/release.py [1]
in line 15.
But how to update to next version?

You can check out this link
https://github.com/odoo/odoo/branches/active [1]
This will give you the active branches and when they were updated last.
If you type the command *git status* in your repo, git will tell you if your branch is up to date or behind and you can choose to pull master again if you want to.
The *PKG-INFO* file will show you the version number.
