When I enable "Allow selling tickets" in the events app, it enables to make different kind of tickets with different prices. However despite of whatever I add, when I go to the website click on the event it only gives 1 registration option which is "free".
This happens to me in a clean install on Odoo 9 en 10, am I doing something wrong here or is it actually bugged?

I found your post trying to answer exactly the same question. I stumbled on the answer:
Events App depends on the eCommerce app for the 'Sell Tickets' functionality, but does not install it as a dependency.
Install the eCommerce app and your paid events will begin to show the amount and new registrations will go forward to the payment screens.
