We usually gives sample products to customers which are free of cost. However we have to pay taxes to the government for those free samples, which will be paid by our company.

How this can be handled in odoo while creating an entry as sale order, in such a way that these amount shouldn't be reflecting in the customer ledger as they don't have to pay anything. But we need to have a track on GST which should be paid by our company.

if amount is zero then tax is zero .You can give free samples to customer , that case no need to pay tax to country . I think when you purchase that item from vendor you already paid tax .

@acha aslam, we are producing and selling samples to customers. We need to apy tax to samples to government even if it is free of cost.

Hi,

Maybe you could this:

1. Create a new Tax record in: Accounting =>Configuration => Taxes.

2. Set : tax type to "Sales", amount rate (%)

3. Under tax account, choose or create an account depends on the specific nature of the tax on your free samples and how you want to account for it in you financial statements. in your case, you're distributing free samples maybe as part of you marketing or promotional activities when customers make purchases.

4. In "Advanced options" => " Included in Price" to False (don't tick it).

5. In the product form(free sample) => add the newly created tax in the field "customer taxes" (general info Tab)

6. After that you can create you "Sale Order" lines with your products and the free samples.

I hope this approach helps you in somehow.

Thanks.
