How to deal with advance payment done by customer in POS (point of sale)?

Hi,
I would like to how to deal with advance payment done by customer. For example, a customer pays only $10 as advance for a product of $50 price, need to generate bill containing advance payment done of $10 and a remainder balance of $40.
How can I achieve this in POS?

create a product (service type) and call it "advance payment from customer); available for the POS.
Create a specific payment method for the POS and a specific accounting journal to record these payments (debit bank account and credit customer account ).
At the time of payment a cash ticket will be printed.
