I might miss out something essential, or just don't get the Odoo principle, pls help:

I want to manufacture a product and thus upfront know, if I will have sufficient parts in stock.

Now, my product consists of a couple of components with different subcomponents each.

What I did was creating

- the masterproduct itself, comprising of the components and corresponding BOM

- the components marked as assemblies and corresponding BOMs

- the subcomponents marked as assemblies and corresponding BOMs

and of course all parts that would be required for manufacturing the sub/components.

What I had expected was, that when creating the manufacturing order for the masterproduct, Odoo would check
for all the required parts, down through all components.

In fact it does not, but only reports, that my next level below components, (which of course are the parts to be built still) are not available.

So I had to consecutively issue all (components & subcomponents)) manufacturing orders from lowest to highest level, which is a loong process and does not
create parts availability upfront.

That cannot be the proper way to do this, right
Thanks

I had this same issue.  If a product has no reorder rules then it will not flow down.  I had to put 0 0 reorder rules on the products I wanted it to flow down to.  In doing that I set the trigger to auto if I wanted the MO's to be created without having to check them. Manual will put them in the replenish queue but you can select multiple product to create MO's.  I am not sure this is my final solution but it seems to work OK.
