i've a customer buying metal bars in kilograms but willing to use meters as stock unit.
He knows the ratio between the length an the weight of the metal bar
Is there a way to handle this with Odoo 14 ?

Odoo not allowing different category unit of measure in a single product. Please check any custom module available in market..or do some customisation based on your requirement..

i found a much better way of handling my situation with this set of OCA modules

Believe you can achieve this using a BOM (KIT), while the purchase product UOM is weight, on receipt operation the product would be tracked by components where you can define the UOM as weight.
On the BOM lines you can define the conversion ratio
Not sure how viable the above option is, considering you would require to manage as 2 separate products and not as 1.
Go to UOM in inventory and Set a reference UOM , then use bigger or smaller than in type and define ratio for it, then odoo will automatically convert it based on ratio.
Many thanks but this only works to convert centimeters to meters for exemple when both UOM have the same reference UOM
