I know this is an older discussion, but since people are still finding it (as evidenced by the recent comments), I wanted to add a current solution perspective for anyone dealing with this issue in modern Odoo versions.

The Core Problem: You need to apply different customs duty rates (5% vs 20% in Miguel's example) to different products within the same container/shipment, which standard Odoo landed costs doesn't handle well out of the box.

What's Changed Since 2016:

The landed costs workflow has improved across versions, but the fundamental limitation remains – Odoo's native approach still requires you to either:

1. Manually calculate customs duties per product outside Odoo
2. Create separate vendor bills for each duty rate
3. Use workarounds that become error-prone at scale

Current Solution Options:

For anyone on Odoo 13.0 through 18.0, there's now the Customs Duties and Tariff Rates add-on (https://apps.odoo.com/apps/modules/17.0/import_fees) that specifically addresses this scenario.

How it works:

• Assign HS codes to products or product categories
• Configure duty rates by country/region
• When you create a landed cost, it automatically calculates different duty rates per product
• Handles multi-currency and splits costs correctly across items

We are the team behind this add-on. But genuinely, if you're only importing occasionally, the manual method Miguel described still works. It's when you're processing multiple containers per month that automation really pays off (typical ROI is around 3 months based on our customer data).
