In the company configuration in v17, there is a "color" field where you can set a different color for each company in, for example, a multi-company context.
What does this field do?
It would be nice if Odoo standard had color differentiation by company so that the user would know which company they are at the moment, avoiding possible errors.

Hi,
One of the visual uses of color in the company configuration is that we can see the branches in that color in the tree view. Please refer to the screenshot.
