IF i have contacts without a sales professional assigned to them, how can i assign all to on sale professional at the same time without having to go into each and every one.

Hi,
From the user interface the only way is to assign the sales person to contact is manually do it one by one. If you have to assign a sales person to all contacts except for those having assigned sales person, you may have to execute a query or you have to execute a python function to do it.
