i have downloaded and copied the accounting app from walnut software
to addons folder, activated debug mode, updated app list
still not getting the app in the list

Just clear the filter on top
Than you can find all apps (after updating the list, so you need to be in developer mode).
Next you switch to the list view, search for accounting and then it will show up. Tick the module and go to actions > activate. Note that in odoo 17 you get an error when you try to install from the default app view.
