Can anyone give me a rough breakdown of the total cost to run and operate a 3rd party module? I am interested in using one but, I am very worried about the upkeep cost of the module for the client. Any insight would be very much appreciated.

Hi,
Estimating the total cost of a third-party Odoo module involves initial expenses like purchase price, installation, and customization. Ongoing costs include subscription renewals, Odoo version upgrades, bug fixes, customization maintenance, and potential hosting fees. Factors influencing upkeep are module complexity, developer support, customization level, and Odoo version.
Upkeep costs can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars annually, depending on these factors. Mitigation strategies include choosing modules wisely, minimizing customization, planning for upgrades, negotiating support, and documenting everything. Inquire with the developer about subscription costs, update frequency, support policies, upgrade costs, and compatibility issues to make an informed decision.
Hope it helps

It varies considerably! Some 3rd party modules are great and work without any problem.
Others are poor quality. If you need support after the normal 90 days warranty you will have to pay, either with a maintenance contract or paying for each fix or change.
Some Odoo partners refuse to use 3rd party modules, others buy them and then take on support themselves.
Personally I've had great support on some modules with the vendor fixing problems quicker for free, others where it was incredibly difficult to get much help.
