I’m currently testing some features in a new Odoo database (trial instance) that does not yet contain any contacts.

As part of the test, I submitted the “Contact Us” form on the website, which correctly created a lead in the CRM module. When I attempted to convert this lead into an opportunity, the system prompted me to assign a salesperson.

During this process, I created a new salesperson using the popup form. However, I noticed that the mobile number field was automatically populated with the same number I had entered in the “Contact Us” form (i.e., the customer’s phone number).

Could you please clarify why the customer’s mobile number is appearing by default in the salesperson creation form? It seems unusual and might indicate a issue.

- A solution within Odoo
- An explanation as to why we do not consider the issue as a bug after further analysis.

Nice catch - this actually seems to be a bug introduced somewhere in 18.0. I did not yet investigate on where or when things went wrong with this one, but folks at Support over here https://www.odoo.com/help-form can initiate the bug fix.


Note: There seems to be no quick fix applicable (i.e. by just setting a null value to the default_phone-key passed as a context).

As this seems unintended I went ahead and created a ticket - #4871069. I'll get back, once there is response on this matter.

Hello,

The bug you reported has been fixed. The update will be deployed at the beginning of next week during our regular server updates.
If your Odoo instance is not hosted on our servers, you can find the fix in the following commit: https://github.com/odoo/odoo/pull/217545

Hello! It sounds like you're encountering an unexpected autofill issue in Odoo.



  Odoo sometimes attempts to streamline data entry by pre-filling fields based on the context of the current operation. In your case, since you're converting a lead with a known phone number, Odoo might be trying to suggest that number for the new salesperson.

  To prevent this, ensure that you clear the mobile number field when creating a new salesperson. Double-check that there aren't any custom modules or configurations that might be influencing this behavior.

  If the issue persists, review Odoo's automated actions or server actions that might be configured to copy data between records. Also, check for any JavaScript customizations that could be affecting the form's behavior.
