We are running odoo in version 10.0+e-20161116 (enterprise) on an Ubuntu 16.04 server and having a problem since yesterday evening.

The problem is that we can not access the backend menu anymore it stays gray. All the icons and default images on the website are also gone (we only see a placeholder). If we try to access the website or the backend we get alot of 404 errors. The log is not really god it only showed 404 but no other errors. After a few things I tried I am also getting an other error message.

How could I solve this problem? (As mentioned: I do not have the admin webinterface)

Try to update the web module (or the base module) from the command line:

Thanks for the response.

Unfortunately that did not work :( The static files are still not found.

I was able to fix the issue.

After a few hours of playing arround I was able to find out that one not correct installed addon view was containing a field which did not exist. I removed the addon and now it works again.

It was really bad that the log did not tell me that a field was missing. :(

I would download a newer version and try again to update (the base module). And do check the file/folder access rights.

If someone also experiencing this issue without any logs on the server the possible reason for this is Odoo creates some attachments (*.css, *.js") in 'ir.attachment' table. It tries to load those attachments from the path stored in 'ir.attachment' table and if not found in filestore. It would load the web page without those files. In that case, you can delete those attachments from "ir.attachment" table with below query and just reload page. (Odoo will create those files and attachments on reloading. No need to restart server)

DELETE FROM ir_attachment WHERE datas_fname SIMILAR TO '%.(js|css)';

May be your session/file storage path will be changed. Check your conf file and set data_dir = ../.local/share/Odoo
