I would like to know the main differences between rental and subscription applications in Odoo. I plan to use one of them to define (list by line items and prices) the product that I rent to customers under a service delivery contract over a period in conjunction with the Odoo Project application to track the actual cost of providing the periodic services and materials consumption associated with customers' contracts. Can you please advise which of the 2 applications (rent or subscription) can better serve the purpose?

Odoo Rent is a rental software that allows you to manage your rental process from scheduling to invoicing 2. It is designed for businesses that rent out equipment, tools, or other assets for a short period of time. The software allows you to create rental quotations, manage rental orders, schedule deliveries and pickups, and generate invoices 2.
On the other hand, Odoo Subscription is a subscription management software that allows you to manage your subscription-based business 1. It is designed for businesses that offer subscription-based services or products. The software allows you to create subscription plans, manage subscribers, track renewals and cancellations, and generate invoices 1.
In general, the main difference between rental and subscription models is the length of the contract. Rental contracts are usually short-lived and can last from a few hours to three months 3. Subscription contracts are usually long-lived and can last for months or years 3.
I hope this helps clarify the difference between rental and subscription models in Odoo! Let me know if you have any more questions.
