If you set up Make To Order process all manufacturing orders can be accessed with the smart button directly from the sales order.

For my client we added the sales order as a field on the manufacturing order and also some additional information from sales order. With MTO process we made an automatic action to fill in the sales order number automatic on manufacturing order creation. This is just small quick developments, and can be done with Studio app.

Then of the list view for manufacturing order we have a default filter with group orders by Sales order.
