I've installed web_shortcuts and it is not doing anything that I can see in v8.0 . There is no star anywhere, do I need to activate it somehow? I thought all modules were backwards compatible in v8.0

It's not a core module anymore since version 7, it's a community module. I don't think the community ported it to version 8 already
