I am using v7. Is there a way to restrict each user's calendar view to only show the events/meetings he has been assigned to/responsible for?

Yes: use a filter on the "Assigned to" field. The calendar view shows the same data as the Tree or Kanban views, but in a calendar format.
Yes, I know I can create a filter for this, but how do I make it a default view for every user?
