Hello,

one of our clients would like to set up a purchase approval process where depending on the amount of the order, multiple users have to approve, more users with increasing amount.

This is possible to be done in v18 in Studio with custom approvals, but when I set it up with multiple users in different steps, they all can approve the purchase in any order.

Can it be set up that the user in step 2 cannot approve the purchase until it has been approved by the user in step 1?

Thanks,

Vojtech

No! no! no! no! no! no!

Please educate your client about the financial and human cost of such a process.

There are numerous studies concluding it will almost certainly lead to decreased efficiency, reduced employee autonomy, increased frustration, and lower motivation, all of which negatively impact overall performance.

Let's consider Odoo - our global revenue in 2024 was over $500M (that is half a billion dollars) and today we have over 5,500 Employees in 21 offices worldwide.

Our purchase policy is

use common sense, do what's good for the company.

We have no approval process, we just expect everyone to spend responsibly. If an employee doesn't know if an expense is acceptable or not, we ask them to consider the following question: would you spend your own money for this item, at this price?

YOUR CLIENT DOES NOT NEED THIS PROCESS
