Overview
BaltLED is a developer and manufacturer of LED illumination solutions for signage and general lighting applications all over Europe and other countries. Before using Odoo, the company faced challenges with their CRM, inventory management, finances and other business functions which were set on 5 different systems and excel sheets. Working in collaboration with implementation partner Versada, BaltLED’s Odoo solution was deployed in 2020. Thanks to Odoo, the company’s internal processes are now integrated on one single platform, automated and more seamless than before.
Key challenges and requirements
BaltLED is a Lithuanian company that has been in operation since 2007 when LED technology became more accessible and affordable to begin manufacturing. Following this, the company settled on the idea to bring LED lighting to Lithuania and wider Europe. They set up a manufacturing plant in the southwest of Lithuania to support local communities with jobs where the founders are from. In 2020, BaltLED had plans to increase capacity but had to slow down due to Covid. Now they are speeding up again and are focused on establishing themselves better in Europe and starting operations in North and South America.
The manufacturer can produce up to 10,000 LED modules a day at its production facility in Lithuania. BaltLED has two production lines – one for signage LED modules and the other for LED luminaires. By having production in Lithuania and storing products on-site, the company can ensure a faster delivery chain for European customers. They are able to provide same-day shipping on in-stock products. BaltLED are certified at ISO 9001:2015 standard and a variety of their products have been awarded "Product of the Year" with gold and silver medals by the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists.
Before implementing Odoo, BaltLED conducted business across several scattered and unintegrated platforms. Their CRM, inventory management, finances and other business functions took place across 5 different systems and excel sheets. This created a situation where an employee had to enter data into multiple systems. This was extremely time consuming and left a lot of room for human error due to the manual nature of the data entry. The company decided it was time for a new software system.
Solution and results
Working in collaboration with Odoo partner Versada, BaltLED’s Odoo solution to address the pain points and improve business activities was deployed in 2020. The project began with the implementation of the following apps which made up the core processes of the business: sales, inventory and manufacturing. After this first phase was complete, BaltLED began learning how to use the new system and began discovering additional functions to further automate their business and make their processes more seamless.
During the implementation of the project, the implementation team faced difficulties and duplications while transferring and importing data from several systems to Odoo. The company was able to overcome these challenges with the help of their partner Versada, and now all company's data is centralized which allows easy communication and planning of business activities.
The implementation of a new ERP system has proven to be highly beneficial for BaltLED. Despite the challenges of evaluating the full impact, it is clear that the amount of time saved by operating on a single system rather than multiple systems is almost invaluable. Additionally, the system was implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic, which has had a significant impact on the economy. Despite the decrease in sales volume, the company has managed to maintain a steady growth trend in net profitability. In fact, the net profitability almost doubled between 2019 and 2020, hinting towards the success of the new system.
BaltLED is currently in the process of implementing plans to expand its manufacturing space and incorporate more automation into its operations. Additionally, the company is taking steps towards sustainability by incorporating the use of solar panels to ensure that all manufacturing energy is sourced from renewable energy sources. This not only supports BaltLED's commitment to reducing its environmental impact but also aligns with the growing trend of businesses incorporating sustainable practices into their operations.
