Hi

I would like to select an alternative UOM (metre) for sales which differs from the default Stock Unit (3m length) and the Purchase Unit (Pack of 10x3m lengths). I have tried installing the Sale - Secondary UOM module but I cannot see what additional functionality this creates. Could anyone please advise and also confirm whether it enables the required functionality above. I know I can select any UOM from the same category on the SO, but I want to set a default which is different to the Stock UOM to save changing it every time.

Good method but I'm trying not to use MRP for this. Do you know if the  Sale - Secondary UOM module would enable me to achieve my goal and where the added functionality is found? I can't see anything on the product record after installing it.

See my amended answer. If you want to sell in meters (by cutting of pieces of different lengths from a stock unit of 3m), then it will not work with the UoS.

To make the UoS visible in "Product/Sales" you have to check "Allow Use of secondary unit of measure" in the user preferences.

Use cases of Unit of Sales (UoS):

Case 1: The UoS can be used when you sell in different quantities of the standard UoM but of the same category. For example if you stock grain in tons but sell it in kg.

Case 2: If you stock in units but sell for example in kg, but only if the stockkeeping unit is consumed completely by the sale. Example: You stock chicken in units, but you want to sell them by their individual weight at a price per kg.
