open qweb-html report in new tab instead of new window

Question

we created a button that triggers a report with report-type = qweb-html.

is it possible to open the html in a TAB within the same browser instead of opening the html in an extra window?

currently it opens in a new Browser-window.

This feature is available now on odoo 10. I assume you are using odoo 9 or 8.
So, If you can, get out the code and integrate it on odoo 9, or simply move forward and migrate to odoo 10.
