Often the version is not set in tags. The version should be a mandatory field for every post.

I agree, although some questions may relate to multiple versions. I am currently adding tags manually in the title, for example:
[8.0/Master]
I think perhaps a separate set of tags for versions with one mandatory (eg. 8.0) and then optional (in case the question pertains to multiple versions).
