How to allow employees to update the employee profile

How to allow employees to update the work  information and personal  information   Without being a member of a  Officer  group  and  employees  can see the only  work  information  of other employees  profile  and cannot edit data.

Hi there - reviving this thread. On our side, ticking this box may allow people to edit some of their information, but not their address under "Private Information". They may be able to "Create and Edit" a contact for it, but when trying to save that contact containing their private address, they get the following dialog:
Something went wrong !
The requested operation ("read" on "Contact" (res partner)) was rejected because of the following rules:
- res.partner.rule. private. employee

you can edit it in S*ettings>>Employees *     in the lower section in  E mployee Update Rights
