my users have created custom filters that sometimes need to be update to include new products, but I don't want my users to know about developper mode (too risky), is there a custom module or a more user-friendly way of updating custom filters ?

Custom Filters are managed via Settings --> Technical --> User Interface --> User Defined Filters.
The way they are defined doesn't really allow users to change them, so it may be better to have them load the filter, add the new product, delete the filter from the Search drawer, then save the new version.

Thanks Ray, I will tell the users to have a backup in a file somewhere of how their filters were first built so they can just start anew when they want to add new fields.
