Hi JPK,

By default a state is mapped to a country in Odoo. As there is no option to archive states  there is only one way to do this by default and that is by deleting the state(s). This means it will also be unavailable through the backend of Odoo though. If you do not want it to show up in the shop you'll need to do custom development to either remove the states field (conditionally) or by adding a field on the state that defines if a state can be shown or not in the shop.
