I am having a strange recent problem in Odoo online 18.0. When ordering certain products, Odoo is suddenly always creating backorders for those products even if they are in stock. I have checked on the usual suspects such as reorder rules or reserved stock, but this is not the issue. Any help would be appreciated. I am unable to find the common denominator for these particular products, and the problem is new.

Hi,
1. Check the Product’s Tracking (Serial/Lot)
Odoo requires exact lot/serial assignment at delivery.
If the delivery order cannot auto-assign a lot, it creates a backorder even if quantity exists.
2. Check the Storage Location the product is actually in
Sometimes there is stock, but not in the specific location the route uses.
For each product:
Inventory → Product → Stock On Hand → Locations
Verify stock is in the location configured in routes.
Hope it helps

Hello there,
This may happen due to the source location used in the transfer. Verify that the product has sufficient stock in the transfer’s source location.
Warehouse Policy Settings
Partial reservation or strict reservation rules cause Odoo to create backorders automatically.
