In our bakery, the Odoo Point of Sale works great. However, we get frustrated that every time we finalize a sale and need to print a receipt, the print preview appears. With over 100 sales a day, this extra step becomes tedious. Is there a way to set up direct printing to avoid this preview?
Odoo is the world's easiest all-in-one management software.
It includes hundreds of business apps:
- Müşteri İlişkileri Yönetimi
- e-Commerce
- Muhasebe
- Envanter
- PoS
- Proje Yönetimi
- MRP

Solution:
Hello! I understand you perfectly. In a bakery with over 100 sales a day, every click counts! Having to confirm the print every time is, as you say, frustrating and a waste of valuable time when you have customers waiting.
The good news is that what you're looking for can be done perfectly, and in many cases, it's free!
The "problem" isn't Odoo, but the web browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) which, for security, always asks you before printing to prevent a malicious site from using up all your paper.
The solution is called "Silent Printing", and the most direct way to do it (especially if you use Odoo On-Premise) is with a browser "trick" called "Kiosk Mode".
Free Solution: Browser "Kiosk Mode"
This is a setting you apply to your browser (e.g., Google Chrome) to force it to never show the print preview and simply send the ticket to your computer's default printer.
When is this solution ideal?
- If you use Odoo On-Premise (installed on your own server or computer).
- If you only have one computer for the POS at the counter.
- If that computer only uses one printer (the ticket printer), which is already set as the default in Windows/macOS.
Steps to do it (example with Google Chrome on Windows)
Step 1: Find the shortcut you use to open Odoo/Chrome (usually on your desktop or taskbar). Right-click on it and select "Properties".
Step 2: In the window that opens, make sure you are in the "Shortcut" tab and look for the field called "Target". You'll see a long text that ends in "chrome.exe".
Step 3: Go to the end of that text (click inside the field and use the right arrow key on your keyboard to make sure you're at the end). Make sure you are outside the quotes (if there are any).
Step 4: Add a space and then type exactly this: --kiosk-printing
Step 5: The "Target" field should look something like this. Click "Apply" and then "OK".
"C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --kiosk-printing
Step 6: Restart the browser! Close Google Chrome completely (make sure no processes are left open) and reopen it using that same modified shortcut.
Steps to do it (example with Google Chrome on macOS)
On Mac, the process is a bit different because you don't edit "shortcuts" in the same way. What we'll do is create a small "Application" with the Automator tool (which comes with your Mac) to open Chrome in the correct mode.
Step 1: Open "Automator" (Search for it in Spotlight with Cmd + Space or find it in your Applications folder).
Step 2: When it opens, select "File" > "New". If it asks for the document type, choose "Application" and click "Choose".
Step 3: In the actions search bar (on the left), type "Shell". You'll see the "Run Shell Script" action. Drag it to the panel on the right.
Step 4: In the "Run Shell Script" text box, delete any text that's there (like cat) and paste the following command line. This tells Mac to open Chrome with the special option:
open -a "Google Chrome" --args --kiosk-printing
Step 5: Go to "File" > "Save". Give it a name, for example, "Odoo POS" or "Chrome POS", and save it in your Applications folder.
Step 6: Use your new app! Close Google Chrome completely. Now, to open your POS, double-click the new "Odoo POS" application you just created. This will open Chrome with silent printing mode activated.
And you're done!
From now on, every time you hit "Print Ticket" in Odoo, it will shoot out of the default printer without showing any confirmation window.
IMPORTANT: Remember this only works if you open Odoo/Chrome from that modified shortcut (on Windows) or that Automator application (on Mac).
I hope this helps you speed up those 100 daily sales! It's a simple change that will save you thousands of clicks a month.
Cheers!
