It's strange that the Odoo demo database doesn't have a good example of this, so I set up the article numbers (what Odoo calls Internal Reference) for some t-shirts.

Odoo records stock for each variant, and you can set the cost, sales price, photo (but not product category)

Odoo doesn't support unique article numbers per variant, but you can achieve a similar outcome:

• Use the "Internal Reference" field for your unique numbers (e.g., 22.382.18.2XL).
• Alternatively, create a custom "Article Number" field on the product variant model.

Here's the workflow:

1. Create a product template (e.g., T-Shirt Alabama).
2. Define size (XXL, XL) as attributes in the "Attributes & Variants" tab.
3. When creating variants, assign unique article numbers to the "Internal Reference" field or your custom field.

Keep in mind:

• Reports might not reflect these custom references.
• Barcode functionality might be limited to one code per product template.

I'm not sure what you are referring to with article numbers, but you can change information for each of the product variants following this workflow:

​Inventory > Products > Product Variants.

In that menu, you will find all of your product variants, and you can modify the picture, description, sales price, category, internal reference, etc.

Thanks for your Help. I‘m sorry I don‘t understand: We have a unique number for every item. That number is given by the supplier of the product. A different color or size of the same Shirt has another article-number to order it. Means: we have to see what we sold to know what we have to order. But with different colors/sizes, we don‘t know where to put this unique article-numbers for everey item to know what‘s in stock and how many we have to order. So we do not understand, how the stock-program works with this different numbers. what is the right workflow to fix that?
