We have 56,868 databases running on Odoo 18.0 so apparently there aren't enough bugs to prevent that many companies upgrading.

Between Odoo v17 and v18, I would definitely recommend going with v18 — especially since you're planning to upgrade before the end of the year.

While v17 is stable, it will only be supported for another year. On the other hand, v18 is already stable, actively maintained, and includes several improvements in Manufacturing, Inventory, UI/UX, and performance — all of which are highly beneficial for a small manufacturing company like yours.

Upgrading directly to v18 now will save you from having to upgrade again next year and ensures you're aligned with the latest features and long-term support.

If your partner hasn’t already tested the upgrade in a staging environment, I’d recommend doing that soon — especially to assess any custom modules or Studio developments that might require tweaks.
