Hello

Please is there any module available in odoo 8 that can help to select a table number in the point of sale application before starting selling ?

Odoo online already have it. We expect to see the downloadable version in the last quarter of this year (for V9), or if you are brave enough you can install Odoo Master and start to use it right now. :)

As far as I know there are no plans to migrate the new restaurant module on V7/V8, but since OCA is really active I'll not be surprised to seen a porting there.

Is it available in the master branch ? where I can find it please and what it does matter with this branch ?

The Master Branch (or tree) is the development version of Odoo on Github, then now is based on Odoo V9 because is not released yet. You can find it here:
https://github.com/odoo/odoo/tree/master
Please remember you need to be a little bit more skilled to install it due to the nature of the branch.
