Is there any way to have tech support personnel be able to enter a serial number for an item and have the system return the warranty expiration date, based on when the item was sold?

Thanks again, Ray! Man, you're all over the place here! I appreciate it when knowledgeable people such as yourself spend a lot of time helping those of us who are just getting started.

Regarding your answer, which field should I use for warranty lifetime, or does it matter? Both "Product Life Time" and "Product Use Time" sound like candidates. Also, where does the "Warranty" field (on the Sales tab) come into play? That's where I had filled in 12 months before, but couldn't figure out how to find the calculated warranty date once the product was sold.

Yes.

You can search for the information that is recorded about a serial number via:

Warehouse --> Traceability --> Serial Numbers.:

On the Inventory tab of the product, set the correct dates:

Then the dates on the serial number record will be filled in when created (create at time of delivery):
