Why have modules in the OpenERP apps often different repository urls?

Question

As an example mass-edit is for trunk available in the same version 1.1 with the same date with two repository urls.

OpenERP is available in two different series:

1) Stable series (5.0, 6.0, 6.1, 7.0, ...) used for production deployment.

2) Trunk series used to share the development version with the community.

The trunk becomes the next stable, at which time there is a new trunk created.
