our company is a manufacturer of Garments. This means almost all orders start with a product development. The starting point of this can be different each time (Staring from from a Designers Fashion Sketch or having a ready made prototype from which a counter-sample has to be done and confirmed) Somehow this is part of the Quotation and confirmation phase prior sealing an order of an integrated workflow. Naturally there would be different 'stages' of a new product in development.
- first sample
- 2nd sample
- pre-production sample
would be one of different layouts regarding this. All of these stages might be requiring different BOM's for this product. For example a first sample will be done of a replacement fabric which is available at that time or just cheaper then the 'real' material.
I wonder whether there is a workflow or Module which could cope with such a scenario. I know there are several specialized ERP systems on the market for garment production and they can handle such things very well. Nevertheless we are in favour of a Open Source solution and I wonder whether anybody has experiance in such a workflow and whether it can be covered with OpenERP.
