Is there a way to reduce the size of the filestore in backup files?

I notice that 50% (40MB+) of the backup consists of what seems to be empty "profile pictures" of customers like this

When you have thousands of items in res_partner these small files really add up and I don't see any point in storing them as they are obviously automatically generated
