how to record production without using BoM?

Hi,

I am just wondering if it's possible to record production without useing BoM?

ie. record raw materials usage, and record the manufacturing result

I can't use BoM as the quantity/type/price of raw materials varies a lot, and so is the result of productoin

eg. 5 Kg of Sugar A might produce 10 Kg of Product A or 10.2 Kg, etc

5 Kg of Sugar B might produce 10 Kg of Product A as well

Having a BOM does not mean the input and output are a fixed result, it is just a list of what generally goes in and gets produced. You can alter the input and loss numbers.

If you do not use a BOM, then you would use the longer method of issuing a PO and WO. The WO would show the production delivered and the PO would reflect the materials consumed. You would have to deal with the order, delivery, reception and validation of both documents. Using a BOM rolls both of those into one workflow as th
