Odoo 16 Profit and Loss report has an option to Include Analytic Simulation.

It should include analytic items without accounting move lines. How ever it is not clear how they will be mapped to PL report without CoA information.

And there is no documentation on how and why to create analytic items for simulation.

Hi - I am out of office from until  Wednesday 9/17/25.

I always do my best to be available 24/7, but I will be out of the country with very limited access to text and email.

If you need anything while I'm away, please reach out to Jeff (jeff.rund@taluserp.com) or Mike (mike.hong@taluserp.com).

Otherwise, I'll get back to you when I return to work on September 17th.

Cheers!

Take a look at this video, which I have fast forwarded to the demo of the Analytic Simulation:

It was introduced in Odoo 16 and allows you to add Analytic Lines linked to a GL account that represent amounts that might be added. This means you can add your expected profits and losses in Q4 and see a "simulated" report for the entire year based on the assumption that the manually created entries accurately represent the entries that would be created in Q4.

It's basically allowing you to time travel to several possible futures.

BUT only if you guess correctly

Create lines for an account called "best case" and others for an account called "worst case" then run your financials and see what your future could look like!

You can add the financial account when creating an analytical item. This is actually quite handy for internal billing between departments, etc. You can simulate P&Ls for each department

Hi,

I’ve never actually seen this specific feature Analytic Simulation in Odoo, which is surprising since we know the Accounting module very well.

What I can say is that Analytics in Odoo are a powerful tool for splitting Revenue, Costs, and other accounting data into different groups, subgroups, and dimensions.

At ERPixel we use analytics for Revenue and Cost Planning (our own module) across projects, business units, departments, etc. This allows us to Forecast company profit for future periods. Similarly, we use analytics to plan Cash Flow Direct movements across bank accounts, which gives us projected Cash Flow reports for the whole company or for a selected part (project, business unit, cost center, etc.). Actual data is, of course, automatically fed into the budgets.

Overall, analytics in Odoo are extremely useful and make Odoo attractive compared to many other accounting systems. At ERPixel we implement end-to-end analytic accounting across company groups, so that all financial operations can be split and analyzed by unit, cost center, business owner, and more. This is a very powerful capability.

I've looked through the video and all of the information that I could find on the internet and I am no clearer to understanding how the Analytic Simulation works. It is an option in the reports but there is no documentation whatsoever about it, still with Odoo 18. Odoo AI has no idea about analytic simulations either!

I do not know also for what it serve Analytic Simulation. But, if you want include only analytic item without accounting move lines. You can set "group by" and "analytic filter". If those option do not appear you can set in report configuration.
