I'm currently attempting to configure an Odoo build, with product categories that have automated inventory valuation and with an operation type that uses the expense account instead of the default stock output account.

I had done this before in v17 with no problem, I just set up a new location with a location type of "Inventory loss". Then I set up an operation type with that new location as it's destination location. So any moves excecuted in that operation type were equivalent to an inventory adjustment and its accounting effect was:

Inventory account -

Expense account +

In this new version, I tried doing the same thing but it's using the stock output account instead of the expense account. So I tested doing an inventory adjustment directly and it came out with the same result:

Inventory account -

Stock output account +

Both ways used the stock output account, which was news to me (at least with the inventory adjustment). I still have yet to find a configuration that might affect this.

I have a workaround, which is installing the manufacturing module, that gives me a new account field in the product categories for a "Manufacturing account" and a new location type "Manufacturing". With this I can create an Operation type with a manufacturing destination location. Therefore if I use an expense account in the Maunfacturing account field of the product category, any moves registered in that operation type will have this effect:

Inventory -

Manufacturing (expense) account +

That works, but isn't ideal and I'm wondering if it really does behave differently in this version or I'm missing something very basic here.

Thank you all.
