Hi

A product is setup with a UoM of Box because we buy and sell that product as a box.

In the box there are 5 items.

Sometimes a box will be opened and the individual items are sold as a sample product.

Is is possible in Odoo to split a box into a single unit?

I have tried to change the unit of measure on an internal transfer order where the product is taken from the WH/Stock location to WH/Sample location. But when I look at the quantity on hand value for that product, Odoo still shows the UoM as Box instead of Each in the WH/Sample location.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi

Thanks for the information, however it doesn't full fill my requirements.

On the Product Form, I have setup my product to have a UoM for Box.

When I raise an internal transfer order, it automatically defaults the UoM to Box

I change the UoM from Box to Unit.

When I complete the internal transfer and look at the quantity on hand for that product, it shows the correct quantity.

Is it possible to show the UoM as 'Unit' for the Sample location rather than box?

The box UoM should be in whole numbers.

In Odoo 17, you can handle the scenario of splitting a box into individual units by leveraging the Unit of Measure (UoM) functionality and possibly using some additional modules. Here’s how you can achieve this:

 1. Configure Units of Measure

First, ensure that you have configured the Units of Measure correctly for your product. You need to define both the "Box" and "Each" units of measure and set up the conversion ratio.

- Go to Inventory > Configuration > Settings.

- Enable the Units of Measure option under the Product Catalog section.

- Define the UoM categories and units. For example, create a "Box" UoM with a ratio of 5 (since there are 5 items in a box) and a "Each" UoM with a ratio of 1.

 2. Create Internal Transfer

When you create an internal transfer to move the product from the WH/Stock location to the WH/Sample location, you can specify the quantity in the desired UoM.

- Go to Inventory > Operations > Internal Transfers.

- Create a new internal transfer.

- Add the product and specify the quantity in the "Each" UoM. For example, if you want to move 5 items, enter 5 in the "Each" UoM.

 3. Use the Split Picking Module (Optional)

If you need more flexibility in splitting the quantities during the transfer process, you can use the Split Picking module. This module allows you to split picking orders easily.

- Install the Split Picking module from the Odoo App Store.

- After installing, you can split the picking order to handle individual items separately.

 4. Adjust Inventory Quantities

If you need to adjust the inventory quantities manually to reflect the split, you can do so through inventory adjustments.

- Go to Inventory > Operations > Inventory Adjustments.

- Create a new inventory adjustment and specify the quantity in the "Each" UoM for the WH/Sample location.

By following these steps, you can effectively split a box into individual units in Odoo 17 and manage the inventory accordingly.

Hope it helps!
