1- Lets's say I am a freelancer and I have bought  a 3rd party module for one of my customers but luckily I have another customer that can use this module can I share it without buying again or do I have to buy again and in this case how to ensure that customer has some kind of prove that he has paid for his module

2- Another situation is I bought a module of version 12 now it's not available in Odoo 13 so I converted the module in 13 can I share with the new customer 

3- Some modules are very expensive to be bought before testing and customer want to test with there local database that they will not share it with 3rd party members and wants to make sure how they look in the enterprise, if we bought a module and it's not working as the explained on call or email can we complain about them to get a refund or just accept the loss because many time customer backs off just to avoid this risk 


I am trying to figure this out in term of ethical and moral values, 

and yes there are some 3rd party paid modules with no licence or incomplete info regarding this matter.

Hi Muhammad,

These kind of rules are always a bit hard to manage but in general I'd say if it feels wrong it probably is.

1. Not really. If you buy an app you should only use it for one customer if you're really fair. It is not detectable/measurable but in fact every customer that uses the app should buy the app himself. The easiest way is to let your customer(s) buy the app(s) that they need and let them send you the download link or confirmation e-mail. This way you know your customer has bought it and you're 100% following the URL's for all parties.

2 - This depends on the license of the app. Some licenses technically don't allow making huge changes without disclosing them, others allow you to do anything with the app. You can find more information about licenses at https://www.odoo.com/documentation/user/13.0/legal/licenses/licenses.html and at https://tldrlegal.com/ 

3 - Yes. If you've bought an app and it does not work or you have serious issues with it you can claim a refund for the app purchase. Once you request a refund the author has 15 days to try and solve your issues, otherwise you're paid back . The official Odoo appstore is a bit of a problem at the point of writing. It is full with bad quality apps that have licenses issues, incomplete info or do not even work well. If you have such an issue then don't hesitate to reach out to Odoo or start a refund claim.

So I cannot claim a refund if the seller promised me something in an email or call which is not in the page description, that good to know the importance of a good description on Odoo apps description.

Anything that is mentioned on the page description of the app is 100% binding, the rest might be a bit debatable. If you have somebody friendly at Odoo - who decide if a refund is justified or not eventually - they'll see it if its a bad app anyways.
