import data from another database on the server

Hi,

I have a fresh database created and need to import accounting data from another database on the same server.. the problem with the old database is that I can log into it with an administrator account and do have the master password but can't do anything, all links gives errors because the modules are all corrupted.. I can't even export data to xml..

is there a way to import data to the new empty database? I also has a raw dump of the old database if it's possible also ..

Have you ever tried duplicate the old database with terminal command, export as a .sql file and then restore it in the new database.
