In most cases our subscriptions need to be provisioned (different steps, some manual) before they become active.  On confirmation of the sales subscription orders in Odoo Online 18, the subscription is immediately 'in progress' and the billing cycles start.

I would like to have the step before 'In progress' like eg 'To provision' that does not start billing yet and allows us to setup the subscription for the customer.  As soon as the setup is done we can set the status manually to 'in progress' so billing starts (so the startdate is set to today)

Even better would be, that the setup task that is created in our 'provisioning project' (that holds all activation tasks) is used.  So when that task is set to completed that status update on the subscription occurs.

The subscription start date can be manually set before confirmation, and edited after - find it on the Other Info tab.

I would have your team set this date to the estimated date based on how long your provisioning process takes, updating it and the first Invoice date if it takes longer.

You can probably also have an Activity Plan that schedules the Activities for the provisioning team.

Once you have repeated this process enough times to know all the edge cases your team will either have this process in muscle memory or you will have more information about where you might need possible automation.
