Unfortunately, in v16, we can't group by analytic account in the model: Journal item (account.move.line) anymore as v16 analytic account is using Jason (code structure).

But in every GAAP report including Profit & Loss, Balance sheet, Trial balance and general ledger, there is analytic account account and analytic plan filter.

If the analytic filter is not enough, the workaround would be creating a many2many tag field in the journal item in order to 'group by' the customized field value in account.move.line.
