I accidentally delete a user from the group "Internal Users". After that user disappeared and also could not login to system.

I search and found that there is a field "share" at "res_users" table. It becomes "True" after deleting from user group. If I update it to "False" it Users come back to life. I have three questions to understand how this group works:

  • Is there a way to make this without updating the database?

  • If deleting from "Internal Users" group is a problem, is there a way to prevent user deleting record?

  • Is it possible to create a new user group and use it instead of "Internal Users" group? (I don't want to change this group's content)

Thanks.

Hi,

If you remove  a user from the internal users group you can see this user by going to Settings --> Users and Companies --> Users .Remove the filter Internal Users and select the user record and add this user to the corresponding user group.

To answer your qustions

If you delete the user entirely then you have to re-create user . but if you remove from a group you can always go to the user and the re-assign the group. in case you don't get to see your user just remove the filter from search.

secondly - if you don't want users to have certain rights for modifications. then go to ' access rights portion and  uncheck the delete rights of the fields you don't want the user to delete . the tab you'll see on the top right corner of the user templete.

Thirdly - even in a same group you can control the access for each users . suppose Sam , Rudy and Viola are part of same group but you want Viola to have extra rights then you can manage it by going to Access Right tab-> uncheck/check write access- read access - create access - delete access of different fields . Also you can go to Record Rules group to give users more precise control or Groups -> checking /unhecking then Access Rights -> uncheck /check fileds according to the role of the users.

hope this clear your doubts .
