Hi,
Modules can be imported from the user interface using the Import Module menu only if the modules contains data files, ie, only xml files, if the module contains py and new model definition from python this method will fail.  In the pop up where the module is going to import is alerting the user about it.



For example, suppose if you need to add this module to your odoo instance :  https://apps.odoo.com/apps/modules/17.0/om_account_accountant/

You cannot upload this module from the import module menu, if you do so, you will receive some errors saying model is missing etc.

In this time, the right procedure is:

* Get the module
* Extract the module and add it your custom addons path if exists or create new custom addons path
* restart the odoo service
* Update app list
* Search for the module and install

The apps coming under Industries section in the store is a good examples of module that can be imported by the way you specified:  https://apps.odoo.com/apps/modules/saas-17.1/software_reseller/
