Hi,

im want to use an Android Tablet and a Barcode Scanner as an Attendance Device in Odoo15.

I bought a cheap Android Tablet "Lenovo M10" and a Barcode Scanner. Tera HW0002.

When im Scanning the Code in a Texteditor it works just fine and its writing the correct value. But whem im trying to scan the codes in a browser in the kiosk enviroment of the attendance app, i tried fully kiosk browser and chrome on android. The code is only read about 10% of the tries. The other time the system gives an error and breaks the code and adds "." between the numbers.

what i have tried:

Disabled all the autocorrect features of the Android Keyboard

Scanner Bluetooth Speed

Scanner Keyboard Language

In the screenshot you see the error and the splitted batch id. it should have scanner: 041643446027

ive tried lots of different smartphones and tablets i had laying around here...
best solution now and the only one that worked good is also the cheapest... Amazon Fire 7. Dont know exactly why, maybe older android version? But that is flawless now.

I think i've seen the same problem when testing on Android tablets previously using bluetooth barcode scanners.
The issue was actually the onscreen keyboard on the tablet that was interfering. I think you were on the right track with disabling the autocorrect features, but you also need to disable the entire onscreen keyboard from appearing for the barcode scanner device.

Also you may need to further adjust the scanner speed after doing this as you mentioned above you had tried, but both of these were needed for me to get a reliable scanner input.

thanks for answering. ive tried that also. the onscreen keyboard "gboard" is not showing up when the code is scanned.
What i figured out is that the bluetooth transmission speed makes a difference of how the error look like. when im on "low speed mode" it makes a fullstop after 3 digets.
on "super high speed" its makes the break after around 8 digets.
so maybe a workaround is to shorten the codes. But thats not a great workaround...
is this a bug only on android? getting a cheap ipad would maybe solve that problem? i think im going to test that...

It might also be worth looking at the manual for your barcode scanner and disabling any suffix characters or line breaks after the code. The issue is likely due to performance lag between the tablet and the scanner, but should be possible to overcome.
If you have access to another tablet to test it i'd advise trying that. I also tested with Ipads and those worked flawlessly.
