I have used OpenOffice to customize some OpenErp reports to Arabic (RTL). The changes are handled correcttly in OpenOffice with the RTL format. when the finalized report is ported back to OpenErp the RTL format no longer applies. (eg "Sales" displayed as "selaS"). I expected this from the answers I have seen on this forum.(wanted to make sure).
Is there a way around this? I would like to stick with OpenOffice.
Standard OpenERP reports are rendered with Reportlab toolkit which currently does not support RTL direction nor Arabic character shaping. You patch OpenERP and Reportlabto support Arabic.
Another option is to use Aeroo Reports which uses OpenOffice or LiberOffice to render reports, but you have to recreate the reports you need rather than customizing built-in reports.
